Christine Reed
Bel Canto was born in 2005 by Christine Reed, the founder and artistic director. She is a retired D - 70 elementary music instructor, loving 28 years of teaching in the public schools. In retirement, she really missed working with children, and decided to form a choir, her favorite activity in music. Taking the best parts of her experiences and knowledge, the choir strives to be a joyful, meaningful, important part of the singer's life, as well as their family's. Bel Canto's structure is intended to produce high quality results, with a lot of knowledge learned quickly, and retained and applied to the next performance and semester. Creatively! Happily!

Christine holds a BA as a specialist in elementary music education, an MA in Creative Arts in Education, and a certificate in Level I Creating Artistry with Henry Leck, at Butler University with world renowned Indianapolis Children's Choir. Many classes, workshops, and conventions attended over the years provide the experiences that children have with Christine in the Orff and Dalcroze philosophies, brain development, how children learn best, and numerous opportunities to be artistic and creative.

To help children be artistic and unabashedly creative have been two career long goals of Christine. To be able to listen, emote and respond is so important to a child's development and learning. Children are so plugged in, and segmented in time: it is a concern. Bel Canto and Bella con Brio are designed to give children opportunities to make connections, emotionally and artistically, in a creative, yet disciplined atmosphere.

Susan Kinnischtzke
Susan Kinnischtzke received her BA in Music Education in 1990 from Adams State College. She is currently the director of vocal music at Pueblo West High School where she conducts five choirs and teaches the International Baccaluareate music class. Susan directs Bella Voce and loves inspiring students to be passionate about music and art. She is the Colorado Vocal Council representative for southern Colorado district 4 and is a also a member of CMEA, MENC and the American Choral Directors' Association. After twenty years in the classroom, Susan still loves coming to school everyday.

Kathryn C. Ward
Kathryn C. Ward is the weekly accompanist. She holds two BA degrees in music and plays the piano wonderfully well. She is the elementary music teacher at Prairie Winds in Pueblo West, and cheerfully attends rehearsals, helping immensely.
